It is a MS Windows 10 compatibilty issue, as the authoring tool was developed many years before.
Copying the required DLL file to the System32 folder solves the issue.

Apparently that won't work (after it activated fine) because my target is a Windows PC (XP) with a Profibus DP card, so I need "Logic Developer - PC / View Professional". Does anyone know where I can find this particular software (prefer 7.0)?

(if a DLL error pops up, copying the required DLL file to the ..\System32\ folder solves the MS Windows 10 compatibilty issue, as the authoring tool was developed many years before).

How to activate Proficy Machine Edition 9.X PAC license in VM ware:
1. Uninstall Proficy ME 9.X.
2. Install an old version of ME, which doesn't check virtualization (I used Cimplicity ME 4.00)
3. Enter license key to activate CME4.00 (QD37AUTH.EXE)
4. Uninstall activated CME4.00 (licence did not get removed)
5. Install Proficy ME 9.X
6. Start Proficy ME 9.X application, which finds and used the old CME4.00 license for activation.
7. Install latest SIM.
8. Start working on a project

! It only works for versions with the old GE licensing mechanism. Versions 9.80 and later have a new Emerson licensing mechanism !

No, it will not delete anything, but you can always make a backup copy of the project elswhere. I'm affraid you won't be able to get 4 more days of demo licence, without changing your hardware ID.
