It's not about Step7 of course. It's just an OPC connectivity layer for *nix platform, to gather data to some Linux driven database servers or something like that.

It's interesting to test, agreed. At least what do they use for COM implementation (or maybe it's just a prodave like layer).

Hello,

Basicly Step7 doesn't supports Linux enviroinment. You could try to install it, but I don't believe that would be works properly there. Also you'll need to install ALM. :D .

Best regards

Yeah, Step7 is win-only. You've tried simatic software on Wine or you mean in general?

As for me I was not able to install 5.4 on latest Wine, but it was a straight try without any tricks.

Keep wanting. It's unplayable in Wine as for now. But VBox is still here. Don't know about serial connectivity but tcpip may work I suppose.

Any VirtualBox + TCPIP = OK!
VirtualBox non OSE + USB MPI/Profibus Adapter = OK!
Any VirtualBox + IBH Link S7++ = OK!
Tested!

VirtualBox non OSE + USB MPI/Profibus Adapter = OK! --> In my case it doesn't work. I'm using VirtualBox 3.2.8 (non OSE) and USB MPI/Profibus Adapter v1.2.

Any suggestion?

Yes, I also would like to install S7 in a Commodore 64 and ZX Spectrum (with WinCC flexible).
Please show me the way...
