Hi all,
I need to know how to activate the OPC Server from WinCC (not Flexible). Here is the steps I've taken, please advise me:
1. Install STEP 7 v5.4 SP3
2. Install SIMATIC NET CD (shiped with WinCC v6.2)
3. Try to configure SIMATIC PC Station from STEP7
I have tried creating a project which is containing a S7-300 station and a PC Station.
Within the S7-300, I have placed a simple program and it is working fine (downloaded too).
The problem is with the PC Station.
I have put an IE general and an OPC server for the PC station.
I already know how to download that configuration to the PC.
Now the problem is I am using a PC Adapter (6ES7 972-0CB20-0XA0) to connect the PC to the PLC via MPI.
And I don't seem to find a PB general for this purpose within my STEP 7.
I know that it is supposed to show up in the CP PROFIBUS section as the NCM PC Manager has it.
Here is the link:
http://fa.sammicomputer.co.kr/TECH/html/t001110.htm#top
You can see that in several pictures there the PB general did show up. So, how can I have this option installed in STEP 7? Anyone has the GSD files for this?
I need to test the PC as an OPC server that is connected to S7-300 PLC.
I think this is the last step to do that.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.

Update
I have tried installing the SIMATIC NET to a computer which doesn't have STEP 7
(this is to make sure whether the NCM configurator acts the same way as the STEP 7).
But the result are the same, I still can not find PB General in the CP PROFIBUS section of the Hardware config.
Perhaps this is due to my low version of SIMATIC NET CD.
My SIMATIC NET CD version is 2006.
And The CD is packed with WinCC v6.2.
For now, I will try to download the latest SIMATIC NET CD from here, install it, see whether it is working or not and report back here.
Again, any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Update 2
So much for nothing.....
I have tried using the SIMATIC NET 2007 which is available for dowload here (which is budled with Premium Studio 2008). But this steps are also showing no help. I still got no PB General from the STEP 7 Hardware Config. Anyone knows how to use the SIMATIC NET OPC Server??? I want to have the variables from S7 PLC and WinCC to be available in the OPC Server.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Hi all,
I am very disappointed in discovering the truth about the SIMATIC NET OPC Server. It can not use any kind of SIEMENS PC Adapter to connect the OPC Server to either PROFIBUS or MPI network. In order to make the OPC Server enter a PROFIBUS or MPI network, a CP has to be supplied (which is very expensive). Well, now that I know, I will not pursue this anymore. I hope this can be useful for others too. But if for some reasons latter this information becomes not valid, please let us know. Thank you.
