i have s7-300 plc. but i dont know what the software i need to use..

in this site i seach about siemen plc software but that to many model..

so can some one tell me what is the software i need to use..

Hi poteoib

Depending upon the hardware you want or have will depend upon the software package..

1. Very basic S7300 programming with Step 7 Lite which is free to download from Siemens. But be aware this is limited to hardware and does not support DP master, comms or special function modules.

2. Step 7 full version , is what i would recommend to be safe, but again this may possibly need bolt ons if the hardware requires it.

3. Step 7 professional has all the major packages integtral like programming, Simulation, SCL etc

so for this,better i use free software from Siemens because the plc s7-300 only use i/o card. no other special module..

i have other 1 question..

for the programming cable. it can be make or must need to buy.

For the basic interface converter ("cable") that have 2 types
1. USB => MPI from siemens ord. no. 6ES7972-0CB20-0XA0

or you can use compatible cable from 3rd party .It can use to programming
like the original siemens cable but can not communicate via profibus-dp
if you use only program via MPI programming port the compatible cable is Ok.
For the compatible cable converter you can call to : http://www.plc-siemens.com
1. USB => MPI compatible ord. no. 6ES7 972-0CB20-0XA0 (same as above original code but specified 3 rd party compatible.)
2. RS232 => MPI compatible ord. no. 6ES7 972-0CA23-0XA0

The price is cheaper than the original cable
