If the PLC has ethernet capability. ie SLC505 series

Install RSlinx on the PC

Connect the network.

Create a DDE link with the PLC through rslinx

Then you can read and write to the registers in the PLC.

Have Fun

Sorry didn't quite understand the questions.

Install Rslinx on a laptop PC
Install Rslogix 500 ie for AB SLC500 series
If PLC is AB SLC505 just connect to PLC through ethernet cross-over cable if directly to PLC or Standard Enet cable to a switch and from the switch to the PLC
If PLC is AB SLC504 You should get a 1784-pcmk series B communications card and DH+ Cable
If PLC is AB SLC503 You can use card above with DH485 Cable or get the PIC communication device and use the serial port if the laptop has one. There is a PIC communication device that uses USB

The second or third method will require you to purchase the communication hardware. Sometimes they are on Ebay for sale.

Good luck
