Hello all masters,
I have a small question for s7 200 /300 cable.
I have MPI cable for PLC 300 series. Now i have ato work on s7-224 PLC ,
Can i use the same MPI cbale for s7-200 series PLC's or it needs diffrenet cale (PPI),
What is diffrence between these PPI & MPI cables?

Re: PPI & MPI cable
Hello
for the s7-200 Series you need a special ppi cable, it looks nearly the same like a mpi cable.
But the difference is the transfer protokoll thats used.
You find the order number on this link
http://support.automation.siemens.com/W ... ion=csopen
an alternate solution is the MPI USB II from processinformatic, this on knows also to handle the PPI protocol. 2nd solution is a CP5512 PCMCIA for notebooks or a CP5611 PCI Card, both CPcards from SIEMENS
Good luck

Yes, you can connect your PC/PG to your S7-200 through the MPI (USB Adapter) cable.
You just have to change the properties of the PPI Interface.
Step7/MicroWIN -> PC Adapter(PPI)

it possible only if your adapter support ppi! it not for all adapters!

Hi,
New here - didn't wanted to open new topic about cables, so..
I am about to setup some plc learning environment from some "old" plc's S7-200 S7-300..
First obstacle was communication cable..
I noticed that guys uses mostly 6ES7901-3DB30-0XA0 Cable interface.
then there is: 6ES7 901-3DB30-0XA0
And there are some various aliexpress options...
Best suitable for my needs would be ?
(I am later hoping to use Autem SPS-ANALYZER pro 5 - which I guess needs PPI/MPI/DP Multimaster Cable / 6ES7901-3DB30-0XA0)
China clone version for starters.
Any inputs or suggestions would be great
Kind regards
Haltec
