Hi everybody,
First of all get my apologies because my English is not very good.
Recently I've been "fighting" with SINUMERIK 840D equipment used for re-profiling the wheelset of railway wagons (MFD Hegenscheidt U2000-400).
The version of Windows installed on the PCU 50 is Windows NT.
When starting the machine, all front panel LEDs start flashing and an alarm appears that there is no communication with the PLC. However, I noted that the PLC is running or at least that's what the LEDs indicate.
I have a PG where I have installed V 5.3 STEP 7 with SINUMERIK Hardware Add-Ons, however when trying to connect to the PLC through MPI with an MPI/USB adapter, the LEDs not lit (MPI, POWER, USB). At first I thought it was the adapter, however when connected to another PLC (S7 300), this worked. In this case, what is the procedure for connecting to PLC and download the program to the PG?
The intention of connecting to PLC and download the program is to review the PROFIBUS network because all ET have the red SF LED On. I was reviewing the addresses of each slaves and they are fine so I thought it was due to an error of parameters.
In connection with the PCU, this is not installed any tools for checking the SINUMERIK. I tried installing the STEP 7 but it requires Windows XP or 2000. What would be the procedure if I wanted to install Windows XP on this machine?
Thanks in Advance,
Michel

You cannot use the adapter with Sinumerik like this.
Your adapter need a power supply from PLC (your computer does not supply the adapter and with the adapter not powered the electronics does not work). Any PLC (except the one inside Sinumerik) give a 24V on pins 7 and 2 of the MPI coupling. For Sinumerik you need some "adapter" to get a 24V supply from machine and connect it to pins 7 and 2 of the MPI adapter.

I have some doubts about this.
When speaking of the plc "SINUMERIK" refer to the NCU ......
Hey say that because I have had problems with communicating nc sinucom installed and configured the mpi on this, but does not communicate, then I need cp 5611 card?
or I can use the mpi (which uses step 7) with an external power, there some diagram to upload, appreciate if anyone can clarify more ...

Hey, Have anybody tried USB to MPI Interface Adapter For Siemens Simatic S7-300 of third part? (http://www.ebay.com/itm/USB-MPI-Interfa ... 197wt_1163)
Will it work with Sinumerick if I hook the 24VDC power to 2,7 Pin of MPI?

Hi
You can NOT conect to NCU box !
This unit have no conectors !
See the picture --> http://www.google.de/imgres?imgurl=http ... BQ&dur=976
In the NCU-Box you can put in a NCU.
You will contact the NCU ?
Here you can log in with Step7-Basis.
PLC-Programming.
Is this what you want ?

You have installed the 840D toolbox at the Notebook for S7?
The PLC 315 is a NCU57x.2 or NCU57x.3 ...
You have the plc program for this machine?
