Hello,
I have a question for you and I would be very thankful if anyone can help me….
Here is the thing…
I have few computers installed with the Siemens software.
Only one of those computers has SERIAL CABLE (PPI) in the interfaces list.
When I choose this interface I am able to make connection PC-PLC (S7-200) for microWin of WinCC Flex 2008 for runtime visualization using RS485 to RS232 converter that I bought from DX.com.
I tried everything to get that SERIAL CABLE (PPI) interface in the PG/PC interface of the other computers but it seems that this is impossible.
Can anyone tell me what software should I install to get that interface?
Thank you in advance!
Best regards!

If the PPI cable is from Siemens, try to install the Step 7 Micro/WIN software for S7-200 CPUs.
This usually installs the driver for the PPI cable.

You could try manually to add this interface in PG/PC Settings. (Start PG>PC Interface ->Add/Remove Interfaces...).
Or look there http://support.automation.siemens.com/W ... n/11870489
Most probably this happens because during installing of S7Microwin you didn't select interface for online access, just jump this step.
For sure new installation of Microwin will do the job.

I guess you didn,t understood me.
I have the PC/PPI cable (PPI) interface, but still I don't see anywhere the SERIAL CABLE (PPI) interface.
I checked the siemens held, but there is nothing helpful abouth that.

This is my first post so hope its helpful!
I just got this same configuration that you have working last night.
Im running Windows 7 64-bit as my main desktop, using VirtualBox I am emulating a Windows XP 32-bit environment. I have WinCC Flexible 2008 and MicroWin 4 installed on the virtual machine.
For the hardware, I have CPU-214 connected to a RS485-RS232 cable, which is in turn connected to a RS232-USB converter, which again is tunneled through to the VM and emulated as COM1.
The settings that I can confirm are working I have posted in the screenshot below.
Cheers, kenneth
