Hi,

I am currently working on an AB project.

I just want to know:

1.If there is any difference between RSLinx Classic Gateway CPR 9 SR1 and RSLinx Classic Gateway CPR 9 SR3.
2. Does it matters if I loaded RSLinx Classic Gateway CPR 9 SR3 to run RSView32 CPR 9 SR1?
3. Is there something that I still need to configure? (from the below case)

(There is an existing and running RSLinx on-site, but we just borrowed the license (RSLinx Classic Gateway CPR 9 SR1) from Rockwell.

We bought this new license RSLinx CPR 9 SR3 to replace the existing license.

I registered the license via internet at the office and transferred it on-site. I uninstalled the existing RSLinx and installed the new one (the one that we bought) togeteher with the registered license. But when I opened the RSView32 runtime, it is not stating on online mode. I tried to ping the SLC505 and look for it at the new installed RSLinx and it was there.

Note: I didn't create a back-up of the one I uninstalled.)

P.S. I encountered this service pack issue with Siemens' WinCC 7.0 SP1 and SP2. That's why I'm thinking if AB's service pack also matters and compatible to each other.

The difference in versions should not give you any problems.
I think the latest version 2.57 also supporte Win7.

Have you confugured driver and IP adress for PLC in RSLinx ?
in menu->Communication->Configure drivers-> Add Ethernet->
In station mapping, write IP of PLC->Apply->Ok, and working

May I know what is this for? I tried to open the link but my Firefox prompted a message "Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (thunder) isn't associated with any program."

To go online with RsView you need to configure RSLinx enterprise, that it's included inside RSView and in your project too. You should also stop RsLinx Classic too from control panel.
RsLinx classic gateway is used as OPC server for other supervisors or to go online with RsLogix.

Is this the lite, professional, or enterprise edition?

Without license it is Lite, with license it is Professional.

Enterprise is another software - Linx Enterprise

I've seen similar problems in the past with linx if you don't backup the network before reinstalling. In linx classic even if you set up the drivers with the same names you will get unpredictable results going online until you re-setup the plc comm paths and save to the project.
