hello everyone.
hope u can help me with this...
i cant establish connection between my laptop to a siemens TP177 micro, using the following setup:
tp 177 micro was connected to rs232/ppi multimaster cable
since my laptop dont have embedded serial port i used a serial to usb adapter (brand: prolific)
i setup the PG/PC interface to connect through PC/PPI cable
then i tried to donwload the program by rs232/ppi multimaster cable setup using the serial port of usb to serial adapter (prolific)
the last line from the commandline says "time out error while sending files"
im doing this setup on windows 7 pro os.
im not sure if the problem is in the setup, cables or the softwares and os..
hope u can help with this..

Hi;
See this document and verify that your "cable" is compatible with the HMI device.
http://cache.automation.siemens.com/dnl ... V1_2_e.pdf
Remember that switch 5 must be "0".
Bye

The problem is your USB adapter. The Prolific chipset doesn´t work with SIEMENS cables. You need a FTDI chipset adapter like the Marson MT-609-2.

Hi,
The best decision for the laptop without a serial port is to buy in addition Express Card or PCMCIA Serial port RS232. These Cards are hardware realisation Serial port RS232, instead of program emulation as adapters USB-RS232. After that you forget about problems and compatibility questions.
For example, look at this:

hi all!
thanks for the replies,
what i did was replaced the rs232/ppi multimaster cable to USB to MPI PC adapter cable.
and setup the system to an mpi network.
my problem now is that when i try to view the s7200 plc on my laptop through Micro/win communication
the search takes too long to detect the plc and it says "UNKNOWN"
http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid= ... =1&theater
i tried to connect directly to the plcs and the problem remains still.
so the issue must be in my software or in my configuration.
here are the program installed.
Step7 v5.5
Step7 Micro/Win SP7
Wincc Flexible 2008 SP2
On a windows xp sp3 desktop
i hope u can help me with this.
