Better go to fortune teller.

What kind of PLC?
What communication?
What version of WinCC?

You will get correct answer when you provide more details.

I think the Ethernet is preffered communication in this case. It is my personal oppinion of course.

You have two options in general:
1. Using RSLinx as OPC Server and WinCC as OPC client;
2. Using built-in communication driver "Allen Bradley - Ethernet IP" in WinCC v.7;

If you are planning to use old WinCC v.6 you have third option: Using RSLinx as DDE Server and WinCC as DDE client. Not very stable and is not recommended. The DDE channel is not supported in WinCC v.7 SP2 and newer.

Using RSLinx gives you more flexibility in communication. You could use any communication supported by PLC. It acts like communication gateway between PLC and SCADA.

My recommendation is to use Ethernet communication and "Allen Bradley - Ethernet IP" driver in WinCC.

Good luck.
