[?]: EPLAN P8 - creating a new symbol unsuccessful

Post by cool_runnin »

guys,

anybody has experience with creating in EPL P8 2.0 a new symbol:
- from a definite scratch
- based on another symbol (for example I need current transducer with 2 PINs but in IEC_symbol dbase there are only with 4 PINS....so I took it opened for edition deleted two pins and tried to save as a new one...)

Then when I try to insert this symbol on one of my pages in some project I get in the editable window (the same used for creation) and not in normal view...:

when I try to update symbol library I get the error as below:

please help.

Hi,
I think that the better idea is first to copy symbol which You want to change (Utilities -> Master Data -> Symbol -> Copy). Then such copied symbol adapt to Your need (delete pins and adapt Function definition - now transducer with two pins). You probably made changes to original symbol (transducer with 4 pins) and because of that eplan can not synchronize library (if You have this symbol instances in project).

I must have destroyed or deleted something.... now when I try to open Master data and open any symbol library to copy it I get the dollowing error:

I cannot copy symbol without opening a library first.

I don't understand this... I just replace edited data with the original (OLDER) from EPLAN and now it is even worse than before :!:

Hi,
Maybe You should reinstall eplan or if You have some backup of Your symbol library.
