Remote PLC Access to monitor and control?

Post by asteroidehk »

Hello friends

I have a water level control, with ML1400 and PanelView1000 through Ethernet.

I need to monitor and control this simple machine from home o from everywhere, like a remote HMI.

In another project I used a "local PC" in the plant with a LabVIEW application and NIOPCServers, then from home with my Laptop I get connected to the "local PC" and I could monitor and control the project.

Is it possible to do the same, without a "local PC"?

What do you recommend?

Is there another option?

Could I use another OPC and Software ?

Thanks in advance.

Well I guess you first need to explain you current situation. This is the way I have understood it:
P
..............Water level control (With its local HMI Panel)
............................................l
............................................l (Ethernet wire)
............................................l
..............................Local PC on factory/plant ))))))))))) Home PC
................................................................Remote connection via global internet

As this shows you have the project running on the machine (HMI) and on your local pc right?
So then you remotely acces the local PC and Monitor the project via the project running in this PC right? You connect to this PC using what service? (Windows remote desktop, Teamviewer or what?)

Please answer so I can help you out.

Hi Daniel

Everithing is correct, from Home I use TeamViewer to connect to the "local PC" in the plant through internet.

But, This is another project, that has not a "local PC".

So, I need to connect from Home without a "local PC" in the plant.

How can I do that?

Thanks in advance.

Setup a vpn connection through your router or directly on the machine's pc.

Then connect to the vpn from home or wherever you want to.

once you are part of the vpn nework your computer has access to every IP adress on that network meaning you have access to the plcs now just get your factorytalk project running on the pc you are using to connect (remember to set up rslinx) hope this helps.

let me know If i can help you.

You need software: RSLogix 500 (You use MicroLogix CPU, Right?)
..... And Hardware: 1761-NET-ENI, (OR 1761-NET-ENIW)
Then you can Control your PLC Like its connected directly to your PC.

If It's Correct answer For You? (gogle)
