Modbus rtu for compactLogix

Post by aaas »

Hello.
I want to buy CompactLogix 5370 L3. Does it have modbus rtu protocol or there is additional module for it?
thanks.

If you like a challenge the 1769-SM2 module will do it. It's usually used to control powerflex 400 drives but it also can be setup as a modbus 485 master. It has 3 ports that can have different configurations - baud, etc.
There isn't a lot of info on using it for regular modbus but it will work - a pain in the ass to set up but a whole lot cheaper than a Prosoft card.
I've got one setup on a L33ER using 3 ports - 1 reading GE Multilin main relays, SEL, and ION power meters on one port at 19200 reading multi registers. 2nd port is pulling data from 2 Aerzen compressors at 9600 using single register calls, the 3rd reading data from a rosemount wireless DP station.
I can give you some basics on the setup.

Also the micro 1100 and 1400 's support modbus 485 also.
