Hello,
I am using Profibus for the first time, previously mostly worked on ModBus.
Need to establish communication between TeSys-t (Motor Management Relay) & Profibus Remote Master (i.e. TCSEGPA23F14F) via Profibus DP.
I have the following quires, If anyone can help me out.
1) I have DB9 Female connector in both devices, what are standard pin-out for Profibus Communication.
2) Is it possible to connect devices directly via DB9 Male Connector, or I need specific Siemens Connector.
3) What are the recommended number of devices in each loop, Profibus Remote Master is supporting upto 125 in the configuration.
4) What are the limitations of Profibus?
5) Can I have multiple masters on a Profibus Network?
Hope I will get the answers of all above questions.
Regards,
Farhan Ali

Hello Ali,
I will try to answer some of your questions.
1) I have DB9 Female connector in both devices, what are standard pin-out for Profibus Communication.
You don't need to know pinout, just open the DB9 profibus-connector and you will find only 2 color marked pins suitable for profibus cable.
2) Is it possible to connect devices directly via DB9 Male Connector, or I need specific Siemens Connector.
Yes, you can use DB9 non-Siemens profibus-connectors but End-connetors must have terminators.
3) What are the recommended number of devices in each loop, Profibus Remote Master is supporting upto 125 in the configuration.
Up to 125 devices.
4) What are the limitations of Profibus?

5) Can I have multiple masters on a Profibus Network?
normally no, but some Siemens masters support 2xMaster configuration

Hello SE_support!
Thanks for the reply, you have cleared my doubts.
Do you have any application note regarding configuration and use of "TCSEGPA23F14F"?
