[?]: Connect S7-1500 PLC with Allen Bradley

Post by milosrosic »

Hello,

Can anyone post procedure for connecting PLCs Siemens S7-1500 with Allen Bradley (Controllogix 5000).
I found some solutions with gateways but I strongly want to believe that there is some solution without gateway.
On S7 I have ProfiNet port and on AB I would use Ethernet IP.

Thank you in advance.

Hello.

Used Anybus and ProSoft gateways to connect ControlLogix 5000 and S7-300 319 3PN/DP. Works fine for 2 years.

Additionally, ProSoft have a module for ControlLogix 5000 chassis for Profibus and Profinet. But S7-1500 not mentioned for Profinet module.

I assume your ControlLogix has got Ethernet comms module.

You can connect PLCs without any extra hardware like gateways.
Both PLCs support Open TCP or UDP communication and you can exchange data. Even a very large block of data.
It is a bit more complicated, compared to using gateway, because you need to read manuals if you haven't done it before.
But you can save few hundred or even thousand euro/ dollars.

Choice is yours.
