Hi,
I'm working on a machine tool with a 130K / CPU921 setup and need to get a programmer connected in for faultfinding and maintenance.
Does anyone have a pinout for the cable to use with these, or is it just straight through pin-to-pin?
I have bought a PG631 and an AS501 card and would like to have the 50 way cable made up ready to test things when they arrive - but I cannot find any information whatsoever on the pinouts of the connectors on the PG or 6ES5501 card.
I *think* the cable would be a 6ES5734-0BD20, but searching that on google shows everything from USB to 9 pin or 25 pin cables...
Any info greatly appreciated!
Rob.

Sorry Admin, but the AS501 is a parallel Interface
Your scheme is the newer TTY Interface

How do you connect a PG 6xx and a PG 7xx?

Hi,
thanks for the replies.
Unfortunately this one is the interface that is seems Siemens would rather forget existed... It was only used on the S5-110 and early 130, as far as I can see, then they moved on to a serial interface for diagnostics and monitoring, via the AS511 or built-in PG interfaces.
For this particular PLC, with the programmer connected, the PLC executes directly from the RAM in the programmer rather than the program being loaded in to the PLCs own RAM; the full address and data bus are connected via the cable...
It's from the centre connector on here:

To one of these:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SIMATIC-S5-P ... 3370255253
I'm guessing it is most likely just pin-to-pin; that's logical but you never know with Siemens gear. If I cannot get any info I'll have to wait until the PG and board arrive and start cross checking power and signal connections.
thanks for the replies.

For clarification, this is the newer CPU921 used in the 135 series, a 6ES5921-3xxxx - similar to the one in the Siemens page link, with a built-in PG interface:
https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/oUIAAOSw ... -l1600.jpg
But this is the type I'm working with, one which was used in the basic 130 series, a 6ES5921-1AA21
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Simatic-S5-C ... 2714062189
It's not compatible with an AS511 card, having that in just completely locks up the PLC and it does nothing; it has to be the oddball 501 interface.

Yes you are right. AS511 and the Serial Interfaces are different to the AS501.
The AS501 are very old und was used very seldom.
6ES5734-0BD20 is the right cable. But unfortunately i found nothing of information about it.
I have documentation about the 130A and W, but there is no pinout.
Sorry

Hi,
thanks for trying.
I've received the PG630*** Correction, PG631 today; it is complete in its transport case and has the user manuals included, but no 50 way cable unfortunately.
The screen just shows random, junk cycling every so often - as someone has taken the RAM ICs out.
I've found some on ebay, £7 for a set of four (2116 / 6116 type 2K x 8 ).
Luckily all the system EPROMs are still in place.
The user manual does include the pin connections for the ports, including the 50 way link. Once I have the 501 card it should be easy to see if it is a 1:1 cable, I just hope it is, otherwise there is a lot of signal tracing to do!
Does anyone know if Siemens ever released a service manual for the PG631?
RJ.
Edit - PG 631 not 630
I've got the RAM ICs and fitted those, but still not working. Time to get the oscilloscope out!
