Hello,
I have a problem, I hope you can help me on it.
The problem was that I was in a startup using my PC Adapter USB Siemens 6ES7972-0CB20-0XA0 V1.3;
it was working fine, I made a backup of a program of a PLC S7 300 and suddenly it stops communicating and there is no way
Now no PC recognizes it, I think it has lost its original configuration; every time you inserted it into the USB it says it is an unrecognizable device.
I have opened it and electronically it appears to be fine. I think somehow the USB settings have been lost.
Is there or is there a way to repair it and reload the factory data so that it can communicate again.
I have tried to install the firmware again (V1.3), but as the USB port does not recognize it, it is not possible, is there any way that this equipment can be reprogrammed so to speak?
I think that if no equipment is able to recognize the PC Adapter, I am afraid that the device is faulty or that it has lost the memory configuration it has.
Is there or is there any way that the user can retrieve it (factory setting load)
Waiting for your prompt reply.
Best regards
Tony La Rocca

There is no way to restore it via firmware. However, this may just be a bad contact in the cable. Try replacing the cable for a while.

If the cable is OK (especially the USB) it might be no good contact in the USB port (inside in adapter). I had one in office with a such of problem.

If indeed I have rechecked the adapter and it has unsoldered the USB legs inside the card.
I will have to look for an air welder to repair it since it is not that simple.
