Hello Everyone,

first of all i need to tell you that im total n00b in 'these' things (programming).

Ive found on this board a lot of usefull links but I wasnt able to find some tutorials for newbies (re plc's, s7-400/200).

can i ask you for some links for a beginner in programming the plcs? i think you will know what do i need ;) (in the sum - how to start?)

1. Install Step7 Proffessional 2006
2. Read manuals in _Manuals folder (first STEP 7 - Working with STEP 7.pdf)
3. Open an EXAMPLE project "Zebra" in Open wizard and study LAD language.
4. Upload an project to simulator PLCSIM
5. Press F1 button for Help.

hiho, its me again. i dont want to make a mess in here with new topics so i decided to add my new newbie questions in here. here it is:

- what are a differences between s7400 and m7400? what is m7-400?
- what is a profibus?
- what is "mpi adress"? ... maybe i know what is this but not with this name...
- i was doing 'getting started' project and i was going fine but one thing interested me.
Press Key 1 and Key 2 in your test
configuration and monitor the result in
the variable table.
ok. i know you can do it in plcsim by setting input variable but - how to do it in "real life". i mean - how to tell the program that you push the button in real? how does plc get the information that key_1 was pressed? is it the clear "electric case"?
update: or maybe... its about the button pressed on the control panel :o

thanks in advance for answers.

one thing more:
2. Read manuals in _Manuals folder (first STEP 7 - Working with STEP 7.pdf)
what should be second? ;)

cheers guys. gw.

update:
totally advanced question.
do you have some easy recipe to download software from a OP27 siemens control panel? o_O
