Application ( MATLAB/SIMULINK-DDE-Client )
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Via a DDE channel, MATLAB/SIMULINK can gain read and write
access to all variables declared in the operator system of the
SIMATIC PCS 7 process control system (DDE server).
MATLAB/SIMULINK and the MATLAB/SIMULINK-DDE client can
be installed either on an operator station or an additional PC.
Communication is initialized and controlled by the DDE client.
Typical procedures in developing Advanced Process Control so-
lutions:
• Offline analysis of the problem to be solved, also including the
analysis of measured process data in MATLAB/ SIMULINK
• Offline synthesis of possible solutions with MATLAB/SIMULINK
• Offline-test by simulation of the solutions with MATLAB/
SIMULINK
• Configuration of the link on the SIMATIC PCS 7 process control
system, parameterization of the DDE server
• Configuration of possible back-up functions in the process
control system
• Connection of MATLAB/SIMULINK to the process control sys-
tem
• Test and optimization of the solution on the process
• If required, transfer of tried and tested functions into function
blocks that can be integrated into the process control system
